NEWWAYS initiative brings together Portuguese and Norwegian architecture schools for studying the reactivation of a scattered cultural and in many cases isolated heritage – the deactivated railway buildings and its surrounding and in between areas.

The expected results are quality proposals, capable of earning the support of local governments and the interest of investors and players able to implement the partial or full rehabilitation of this heritage.

Intervention upon these buildings represents the development of peripheral and deserted territories, mitigating social and economic disparities within the country.
